Alright, I've been hearing this more and more. People telling me they've been turned into vampires. It's bothering me. There are some theories that suggest turning is possible. I don't subscribe to any of them personally.

To those who think they've been turned I believe you are experiencing one of the following, from most common to least common:

1) You're lying. You weren't turned. It doesn't work like that.

2) You've been lied to. Someone bit you, and they've told you you'll become a vampire. You won't, it doesn't work like that.

3) Sympathetic Vampirism. You've been a donor a lot. You are over drained, and right now you're experiencing real vampiric symptoms. This is how you'll feel until you regain a healthy energy level. That'll be a very short time if you're feeding vampirically. Unlike vampires though, you can just sleep, and eat, and live until your energy level returns to normal. This method takes longer, but it does work. No matter how drained you are, this condition is temporary.

4) Forced Awakening. I've only seen this twice. People get drained enough to cause normal sympathetic vampirism, however they are in fact an unawakened real vamp, on the verge of awakening. The experience is enough to push them over the edge into awakening. I can sense other vampires, and was sure they were real. They didn't claim to be "turned" because, they said, they'd acted as donors before, and it was a very conscious "hey, hurry up, I need to feed now," feeling. For both of them, that feeling was followed by despair.

They were awakened too early, and it was incredibly hard on them. If you like at vampiric awakening like puberty, instead of going into it naturally they were pumped full of hormones and had it induced. There system was shocked and they didn't handle it well.

These are the four closest things to turning that I believe in. If you think you've been turned, it's most likely the first two.

Did I miss anything?

Even if you assume turning is possible, if you were turned you wouldn't have to ask if you were or not, you'd know I believe. And given the reception such claims get, I would think any such vampire would have the good sense not to discuss such a controversial topic in the first person.

It's nearly as bad as politics an religion for starting a flame war on most forums. Best left for private debates and speculations.

Also note, most theories on turning have absolutely nothing to do with a vampire biting anyone, or with anyone biting a vampire.

Just another small point Smile

Perhaps one;
That real vampirism is a condition of the soul, therefore the human soul needs to be destroyed and the vampiric soul created in its place.

Other types of 'vampirism' exists but I see this as either energy deficiency, energy manipulation, delusional human beings or role players (archetypal idolatry).

Forgive me for doing this within your thread Taya, but since this has been stated so publicly I feel that the reply must be just so as well...

I have to say that I find it rather pompous for you, EtuMalku, to finally openly state that your own understanding of vampirism is the only "true one". So, you truly do believe that the rest of us are mistaken &/or liars. Has it ever occured to you that you are the only one that spouts off about the absolute correctness regarding your own understanding of vampirism?

I, unlike yourself, am not stating that your understanding of vampirism is false. I am simply stating that the type of vampirism that you are referring to is not typical of the vast majority of us vampires. Has it ever occured to you that your constant tip-toeing around of the topic regarding this "soul vampirism" does nothing more than further confuse those who are searching for the truth regarding vampirism? Perhaps if you could be so kind as to finally properly & fully explain this "soul vampirism" that you keep referring to, within one post, it would be less confusing for all.

And I should hope that you, especially in your role as a site Moderator, would refrain from further calling us "human vampires" (who, once again, are the vast majority of the vampiric members here) delusional.

Sincerely,
Laurasia

Well, I have explained it a thousand times in this forum, it would be up to you (meaning everyone) to read what I post for once.

I am aware that could be wrong of course, but I am not going to insert an IMHO every time I say something. It's clear to me that whatever someone, including myself says, is their belief and opinion based on what they understand.

I've never called any 'human vampires' delusional, please read what I write, if anything I have referred to certain people, who would not be any kind of vampire but think they are, to be 'delusional' There is a difference.

First off:

"Forgive me for doing this within your thread Taya, but since this has been stated so publicly I feel that the reply must be just so as well... "

It's fine, Laurasia, I felt the same way for the most part. It wasn't as personal for me, as I do feel that I have a vampiric soul.

"That real vampirism is a condition of the soul, therefore the human soul needs to be destroyed and the vampiric soul created in its place."

I feel statements like this perpetuate the idea that "humans" can "become vampires." I may agree that it's a condition of the soul, but I've always had a vampiric soul.

Dream Well,

Ok, I have an idea, I will refer to my 'true' vampirism as Divine Vampirism from now on as it has to do with the soul. This way no one is offended.

Yes, you have made posts within threads about it all over the place. However, you tend to either skip around the subject in an all-too-short-post or you choose to speak above most people's heads when referring to this type of vampirism that you are referring to. All of this simply leads to more confusion & chaos for those that are trying to learn about vampirism....especially if they do not have a background in the occult. Let's face it, most of the people coming here to learn are teenagers & not followers of Crowley or any other such writer. Only explaining this specific type of vampirism with high-toned, fancy wording merely adds to their confusion. And wouldn't it be easier for yourself if you did have a concise thread that you could refer members toward regarding this type of vampirism, rather than needing to try & constantly explain such a complicated topic repeatedly? Wink

Perhaps you do not realize how your wording came out....

quote:

That real vampirism is a condition of the soul, therefore the human soul needs to be destroyed and the vampiric soul created in its place.

Other types of 'vampirism' exists but......

To me, that statement would imply that you feel all other types of vampirism to not be real.

I would think that "Divine vampirism" would actually be worse. Its' tone implies that one type of vampirism is "superior" to another. Not to mention bringing up issues of seemingly "Twilight-like", super-power-infused, physically immortal vampiric beings. These are exactly the types of things that we are trying to re-educate people against. Perhaps "Asetian vampire" would be a better term? That way everyone will know that you are referring to a type of vampire as understood by that belief system.

Sincerely,
Laurasia

And you don't think referring to the Asetian vampire will not cause further confusion and controversy, not to mention a plethora of instigation and diatribes thrown my way?

I've tried that route here already . . . it was not good.

But . . . . I can always try it again, maybe!

Perhaps if you were to give a brief explanation of the context of
the theory? I have to admit, I've never been clear as to what
Asetian beliefs consist of, and I don't have the time to read the
Asetian Bible were I able to find it in the small town my
university is in.

Maybe it would be helpful to post a general explanation thread
on the beliefs - do a general outline and give the chance for
people to ask questions - and put a link to it in your signature?
Just a suggestion. It might be helpful to us all.

When I speak, "vampyre" = a real vamp,
like me! but "vampire" = mythical
creature.

You wanna explain "there's no awakening" to the rest of us?

And check out the probably hundreds of turning threads. The
consensus is that it isn't possible. With the exception of EtuMalku,
but he's pretty much the only one who isn't a newbie to the Realm.

I'll add my voice to the crowd here.

No one has a monopoly on what vampirism is. Personally I think
it's a psychological disorder.

I cam here with an open mind and there are some people here
who's opinions I am very interested in, and I have contacted
them privately. They have kindly sent me very detailed
explanations, which I am working through.

However, I have yet to see any formal explanation of your
"vampiric soul". You make off hand comments and refuse to
elaborate when questioned.

If you could make a formal explanation on another thread, that
would be appreciated.

Since you said "You make off hand comments and refuse to elaborate when questioned," I'm sure you'll be willing to give a specific answer:

"Personally I think it's a psychological disorder." -TechMage

Can you explain this to me? I'm a vampire, and I don't have a psychological disorder, so it's a confusing statement to me, and at first glance, a little insulting.
