I lay entwined within the cocoon of my misery,
Choking back those memories I long to leave behind,
Forgotten by time which has passed me over,
Closing my eyes to chances,
I know you’ll never see,
Me.
I hide behind the fantasies that play in my mind,
Quietly waiting for tides that have turned,
I fold deeper within myself and cry,
I am so tired of this world full of lies,
Would you even dare,
TO look me in the eyes?
What do you see?
It’s in there all day silently torturing me,
My outward expression is all that they will see,
This mask has become my one true friend,
And behind it is where I will slowly mend,
Awaiting for he who will find the key,
To one day set me free,
From the pain.
